Russell Grantham Obituary

Grantham, Russell A. 85 of New Smyrna Beach, FL. Formerly of Murphysboro, died Friday, February 24, 2006 in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Russell was born October 25, 1920 in Tamms, IL the son of the late Claude and Maggie (Trovillian) Grantham.; his first wife Betty Ann Grantham preceded him in death in 1996; he later married Virginia (Ragle) Grantham; she survives of New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Russell was an attorney specializing in corporate law, he receiving his degree in law from St. Louis University. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was the recipient of two distinguished flying crosses andfive air medals. He was a member of the Smyrna Yacht club, Sugar Mill Country Club and past president of the County Council in St. Louis County, MO., and was also the founder of a life insurance company for returning military veterans of World War II.Services: Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at CRAWSHAW Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Rev. Byron York will officiate, burial with military rites by the American Legion Post 127, V.F.W. Post 7190 both in Murphysboro, V.F.W. Post 2605 in Carbondale, and Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69 will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, near Murphysboro. Visitation will be on Thursday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Crawshaw Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Virginia of New Smyrna Beach, FL; three sons,William Grantham of Coral Gables, FL, Alan Grantham of Webster Groves, MO, and Donald Grantham of Burlington, VT; four step-sons, Robert McKay of Tampa, FL, Steven McKay of Chicago, IL, John McKay and Daniel McKayboth of Raleigh, NC.; two step-daughters, Karen Baird of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Michelle Holton of Oviedo FL; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
