Sara Rohan Newton

Newton, Sara Rohan Sara Rohan Newton, born August 10, 1945, passed away Tuesday evening, December 8, 2009. Born in Newcastle, Nebraska, she attended college in Omaha. After relocating to San Diego, California, she reunited with Talmage E. Newton III, with whom she had been on a blind date back in Omaha. The two were engaged shortly thereafter in 1968 while he was between tours to Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. They wed the following summer and lived in Columbia, Missouri, New York City and Dusseldorf, Germany before settling in St. Louis. Sara served as an agent for the Parkview Neighborhood for 7-years, successfully bringing the neighborhood out of debt; was actively involved in the Boy and Girl Scouts of America earning several awards from the Greater St. Louis Area Boy Scout Council. She was an accomplished and published poet, a loving wife and dedicated mother. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40-years as well as two children Talmage E. Newton IV (Anna) and Rohan M.B. Newton and a granddaughter, her mother and 9 brothers and sisters. Services: will include the family receiving friends at THE LUPTON CHAPEL, 7233 Delmar Blvd., University City, Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. No flowers please; contributions can be made in her name to the Greater St. Louis Area Boy Scout Council.
