Well Sharon guess who is leaving for college this Saturday; Miss Lucy. She will be attending Mizzou with about 10 of her classmates. I knew her boy friend was attending there but I just found out today that his room is one floor below hers. Lucy and I had lunch together today and she reminded me that I will be coming there for lunch. This last month her and I have been meeting once a week; sometimes with Jack and Grady(Lucy's boyfriend) for lunch. He is a good young man and you would've liked him.

Well Sharon I had to do something today that I have been putting off for the last couple of months. I had to put down Mia this morning and Tom went with me. That boy is a God send: he is always there to pitch in on whatever needs to be done but to be honest they all are like that. Talking with Vet we believe Mia was 15 to 16yrs old and she was definitely my dog with the way she attached herself to me. The Vet started taking care of Mia in 2014 and they marveled the way she always behaved and I just told them she took after her owner; just kidding . Its going to be all full lonely around here for away.

Well Sharon I have some exciting news to pass on. Lucy's Columbia Varsity Soccer
Team won State this past weekend. They won 8 to 0. This ends her sports career for soccer and volleyball. She doesn't plan on playing any sports at college. There is about 8 kids from Columbia planning on attending MIZZOU including her boyfriend, YES her boyfriend.

Well Sharon time just keeps ticking on as we all get older. Today is the last regular season soccer game before the playoff games start for Lucy. Last night was senior night before the game started where the seniors were introduced with their parents. Lucy will be going to MIZZOU this fall. I just keep thinking about all of the things you missed and the things the kids missed with you.

Well Sharon here is another milestone you will miss this year. Poor Steve has 3 kids graduating this year. Haley is graduating from Lindenwood University this Saturday for the degree of Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology with Criminology and Criminal Justice and Sociology minors. Tom is graduating Oakville and Sam is graduating 8th. grade. There are a lot changes happing in the that household. I sure wish you were here just to see how they've grown.

Well Sharon another year as come and gone with me just waiting till my time.
You know I loved you then, I still love you, I always have and I always will. The
word "together" lasts beyond this life and the love we shared will never fade away. You know more than anyone the depth of the love that connected us. Even though it's been 11 years this is something that needs repeating that some people journey through life leaving footprints wherever they go. Some of these were footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion, humor and inspiration. Even though your gone we can still look back and clearly see the trail you left behind for us to follow. The kids and grandkids all miss you especially around Christmas because you made it fun for them, I try but I'm just not in the same ballpark as you.

Well Sharon Jack ended his baseball season with winning another championship this past weekend. They won two out of the last three championship games they played. It looks like I have a little break before volleyball or soccer for Lucy and for Jack soccer. He hasn't decided whether he will play basketball, and this would be high school ball.

Well Sharon another busy weekend with Jack as he had another baseball tournament in Chesterfield. He pitched the first game on Saturday, he walked one and struck out four. They won that game easily! They had two games on Saturday and three games on Sunday. They won the tournament, and he received another championship ring. I just keep thinking about all of the things you're missing by not being here.

Well Sharon it was a busy weekend for sports for Lucy and Jack which in turn made my weekend. Jack had a Baseball Tournament and a Soccer Tournament; they came in second in the championship in baseball but they won the Soccer Tournament. Lucy had a Soccer Game for Columbia against Collinsville High School which Columbia won. But with only 2 minutes left in the game she was hit from behind and broke her collar bone so she will be out for least 6 weeks. The girl that hit her probably had 20 lbs on her. I really miss you Sharon and knowing that all the grandkids do especially when things are happening and knowing you can't be there.

Well Sharon its been 10 long years that I've had to live
my life without you. It was tough watching our world slowly end and knowing there wasn't anything we could do about it. But I was fortunate that I had the kids and grandkids to make this part of the journey easier. The real sad part is that the grandkids are never going to know firsthand how Special their Grandma was; well maybe a little. I wish you were here so that when I say, "Remember when...," I can actually see your smile and hear your laugh. From the first minute of the day to the last at night, my thoughts are filled with memories of you. Your love holds me together and I'm so thankful for the gift of You. car. Within the next 8 months Lucy will be driving. Jack just

Well Sharon it's been a long 9 years to live without the

is a date that I could just sleep right through if that were possible. I will be visiting Mercy Hospice House (new name after merger) but same great treatment like I have done in the past. It's weird but when I visit a look
at your brick with your name on it, it seems to have a glow which tells me you know I'm there (at least to me).

Well Sharon another year has come and gone and I'm still here missing you like cracy.
It is hard to believe that I would have lasted this long so it must be the
grandkids. It has been a long 7 years without you and it hasn't gotten any
easier. I have been listening to a new song (new to me) called " I wanna grow old
with you" which we know that can't happen. The first line of this song is " Another
day without your smile" which is really sad
because you had a smile that brighten everyone's day especially mine. So for
now I have to be satisfied just looking at your smile on the pictures I have. But
knowing how many of those smiles were directed just towards me makes it a little

Well Sharon let me start out by saying " Happy Anniversary Babe"! I will be going to your favorite place to celebrate our anniversary just as we always did. The only exception is I will be ordering what I like and not what you always had because you know me and cheese. This year will make it 4 years since you left us and it has been a long 4 years. I visited St. Anthony's Hospice Center yesterday to check out your new brick. They had to replace all the bricks on the walkway because they were crumbling. I will say I think these look better! I visit there about once a month to walk around the garden. As you remember the grand kids and I spent a lot of time in that garden. It is nice to go there just to remember our last days together. Remember I love you and I always will.

Sharon I discovered a song about a month ago called ' I'll see you again' by a group called Westlife. I bet I play this song at least 10 to 15 times a day if not more. It just says everything I feel and what I should have said. I know you hear it and feeling the same thing I do while it is playing.
I make it a point to attend every one of our grandkids functions but I just wish you there to enjoy them like I do and I know they do to. Haley is playing Field Hockey in High School and Tom, Lucy, Jack and Sam are all playing soccer. It has been a challenge attending their games but I wouldn't have it any other way. Well Sharon believe it or not I turned 66 today. It was a good day because I spent it with the kids and grand kids. Jack and Lucy had baseball and softball games which I attended and then I had a great dinner with the whole clan. Like I said it was a good day but not a exceptional day which would only had been the case if you were there. Some say it will get easier but I have to disagree with them because I don't FEEL that it does. I just keep banking on the day you and I will be together again.

Well Sharon, Haley made her Confirmation yesterday and Debbie was her sponsor. You would have been very proud of her and she has grown up to be a very attractive young lady. She will be graduating this year and that really makes me feel old. All of the grand kids are keeping me busy with baseball games including Sam. Lucy has 4 soccer games left and she also started playing softball this year. I tell you I would be lost without marking everything down on the calendar. Well Sharon it's that time of year again where we will be getting together for another Christmas without you. I believe this will be the fourth one. I could say time sure goes by when you're having fun but were not having fun or at least I'm not. The kids and grand kids are busy with their sports and other school activities. Haley is in the Jazz band and she is pretty good. I will say this that they keep me busy with all of the things they have going on. Our anniversaries fell within days of one another and it was always a special treat to hear from you. Wish you were here to share those memories with me. Miss sharing pictures of my grandsons with you. Doug has two little boys and is getting paid back for all the temper tantrums he threw. Nevin is just like him. Mark's little guy is doing much better. He is three months old now and doctor says his lungs are developing really well for a preemie. He's a cute little guy and so cuddly. You would just love him. Well Sharon let me start out by saying Happy 45th Anniversary Babe'. This is OUR anniversary and that makes it a special day for me because you were a very very special person in my life. I find myself thinking of many good memories we've shared and some crazy times we laughed our way through. Our kids and grand kids are a subset of our life together which wouldn't exist if it weren't for you. Each memory is special and I hope they never fade away. Well Sharon life still continues even though I know it isn't anything like it would be if you were with us. This year would have been number 45 for us and Steve is turning 40 this year. I really feel old now! I spend a lot of time with the grand kids for the both of us. I'm trying to do all the things I know you would be doing with them. I took all five of them to the zoo and then to Chuck e Cheese for their last fling before school starts. They are busy with their sports which in turn keeps me busy. I have to say this that they really enjoy the van; they are always asking me if I brought it. I get together with Karen and Mary for lunch to fill them in on what is going on but I know I do a lousy job of that. You three were such good friends for so long. Just remember that I love you and I always will!!

Well Sharon I turned 65 today and I can't believe I did it without you by my side. Matter of fact there are a lot of things I have done without you and I hated every one of them! I never thought my life would go this way but unfortunately it has. I know God must have had a reason for this but I wish he would have checked with me first. Sorry for being selfish but I think of all the things the grand kids are missing out on because you're not here with them. I try but I make a lousy grandmother! I still wear your wedding ring around my neck because we're still married, we just happen to be apart right now. Plus it makes me feel better knowing that it is there. It has been awhile since I've added anything out here and I need to start doing a better job or I will be replaced. Well just remember that I LOVE YOU and I always will!!

Sharon ...this is a photo taken of you in 2011 at Barbie's house while holding her grandson Ryley. You, Jim, Bill & I stopped by her house after leaving the Spaghetti Factory one Sunday.
Yesterday Jim, Bill, Kathy, John and I celebrated your birthday. Jim, Bill and I went to a memorial Mass, then we met Kathy & John at the cemetery to put flowers & a balloon on your grave. From there we headed to what I think was your favorite restaurant - "The Spaghetti Factory" (in the Valley). We made a toast to you! We know you were with us in spirit, but the day would have been perfect had you been there in person. We all love and miss you so much. I actually gave JIM a present for YOUR birthday. It was a pillow, made from one of your shirts. The purpose of this pillow is to make someone feel closer to the loved one he/she lost. I saw this idea on Pinterest. Barbie actually gets the credit for making it. She has the same great sewing ability you had. I still remember the beautiful dresses you made for Barb & Dee when they were little. Boy! You were so talented. We'll see you up in Heaven one day, but in the meantime, watch over Jim and your family and keep Jim uplifted by your love.

Well Babe we are getting ready to celebrate your birthday today which would be #64. There are times when I'd give anything just to be able to gaze into your eyes or hold you in my arms, even for a few minutes. I always feel incomplete, like a part of me is missing when we're not together. I know that, right now, this is how things have to be, but that doesn't make it any easier. Every day without you just reminds me of the joy you added to my life, the joy that I'm missing. You made my life such a wonderful place to be, filled with fun and laughter, with smiles and love. I'd just like to say THANKS for being the ONE and remind you how very, very much I LOVE YOU!!!

Sometimes I just don't know where to begin. There is just so much I want to say to you about how life without you is sometimes no life at all. There is probably another way of saying it but that wouldn't be nice. We are having our third Christmas without you. I just keep thinking about all the life experiences the grand kids are missing out on with you being gone. I try to do things with them that I know you would do but I'm sure I'm missing things. I'm not going to go into a lot of stuff but to say how I miss you and I wish you were here with us.

Sharon I was reminded this week that you and I aren't going to experience life together any more. I had a tooth pulled Monday and I had to deal with it alone which was ok but it made me think about what else l will have to deal with. We were together through all of our other life experiences weather they were good or bad. You were always there for me just as I was for you. I know you will be by my side with whatever life throws my way until you and I are together again. It is crazy what goes through your mind sometimes. Like how important it is to me that I visit you daily (weather permitting) as if I was still taking care of you. Making sure your gravesite is taken care of until I join you. Well enough of that but just remember that I love you and I always will.

Well Sharon it is our anniversary today and it is number 44; so Happy Anniversary Babe! You know there's just something about being together as long as we were (are) that gave our love a richer and deeper dimension with each passing year. When I looked at you, I saw my life partner, the ONE person who's been by my side, not only through the highs and lows but also through the ordinary days. Waking up beside you every morning was essential to my well being which is what I'm missing right now. Time has made you more precious to me than you can ever realize. You know Sharon sometimes I feel sorry for myself because you and I are no longer together, at least for now. But then I remember how lucky we are to have 5 great grandkids. Lucy gave me a letter she wrote called My Friendly Letter and this is what it said:
Dear Grandpa,
I know that your alone but you have Lucy Jack Sam Haley Tom and Grandma and you are lucky because you have us, I love you Grandma and Grandpa.

You know Sharon that whenever I see an older couple holding hands, I imagine all they have experienced. I see their entwined fingers and how comfortable they are with each other. I see in them the gentle joy that a lifetime of loving can give. We HAVE that same type of love even if we are currently apart. You remember during one of our discussions you mentioned to me that I could go ahead and get a van. Well I did just that last week and the hardest part was trading in your car. All the kids spent the night last week and it was just getting too hard for them to be comfortable. And I knew that you would want them to be safe so this made it a little easier to do. But I will tell you it still wasn't an easy choice to make. All the kids loved it especially Sam!
