Mrs. Powers was my KG teacher at Lyon A.B.I. in 1985. As a little girl filled with anxiety about separating from her newly divorced mother and little toddling brother for her first days of school, I was comforted by the care and arms of your mom. She was so kind to me and helped make me feel comforted, secure & confident while at school. I'll never forget her for that and for her sweet and generous nature. I'm sorry for your loss, even though it's been years. I too, lost my mom. My daughter was only 1.5 year old. I feel that loss every day but am surprised and comforted to see how much my daughter is just like her grandma. Every day I get little glimmers of the mom I loved. Hope you get that blessing as well.

Two years have passed and I miss you more every second. Mom, I love you and think of your smile every moment the sun is shining. I think of your playful and fun spirit when it rains and I look back on the walks we would take during my childhood. We giggled happily while splashing in the puddles. When it snows, I think of walks to the park and sledding with you. In the summer heat, I treasured our swim times at the Webster pool.

You always said that memories stood as the best gifts parents could give their children. In every season and every phase of our lives, you left thousands more than we could count. Then you did the same for your grandchildren. The word 'Mom' got its heart and true meaning from the gracious lady who answered to it in my childhood home. Thank you for being everything a child could want and more. Forever and always, you are adored.

Mom, it has been a year, and you are missed just as much. I still want to run to the phone and call you about news, jokes or anything on my mind, but I cannot talk to you. I love you always and I know Heaven is brighter with you there, but I would love to hug you again and have one of our talks.

Hi Jerry and family,I'm shocked and deeply saddened by your loss of your loving wife Shirley, mother of your three sons, and grandmother of the Powers clan .(Wasn't Shirley a Harris grad?)
It's been many years since I last saw you, but I've always considered you a friend.
From the obituary and other sources, it's apparent that you have a loving and kind family, children and grandchildren.Fortunately, they will still have great memories, happy and recently sad of your lives together. Jerry, I'm certain that you will remain a living example, role model, gude (tough job huh?) which will remind them positively of the family all of you continue to deserve and still have.
Any kind of wannabee wisdom espoused on the death of a loved one is a foolish, hollow voice in the light of the deep sorrow and loss which you all have experienced. My thoughts are with you.
We have had great and successful careers, doing what we loved as teachers/educators helping kids.I'll bet Shirley was a beloved mother, wife and great teacher... maybe it's in the water some teachers drink(Sorry for the belated note just found out.)Bob Camp

Mom,

You were everyone's angel down here and now you are one of Heaven's most beautiful cherubs. I love you dearly forever and I was so blessed to have had the best and most devoted mother a daughter could ask for. I miss you more than you know.

Jerry, Ted, Tim, and JoAnn

I'm very sorry for your loss. I really liked Shirley. She was always one of the "lives" of the party at the annual family picnics. She always had family stories to share. I can't help but remember the soccer games, softball games, and Jerry riding a 100 miles on his bike to the picnic. :)
