Steven Smythe Obituary

Smythe Jr., Steven Edward

July 4, 1964 - December 14, 2024

Steven Edward Smythe Jr. passed unexpectedly in his sleep on December 14, 2024. Steve was born July 4th, 1964 to Steven Smythe Sr and Diana Best. Steve was a man who lived life his own way and never took it too seriously. No car was too fast and no engine too broken to fix. It was common for Steve to cry when watching a sentimental show-whether that be Disney Channel's "That's So Raven" or "Old Yeller"-although he would be quick to correct you that he was "welling", not crying. He loved to talk about cars with his son, Steven, and still called his daughter, Kirsten, "Punkin". He had a contagious laugh and a smile that crinkled his eyes. Steve loved being a father and grandfather, and always said all he wanted was for his kids to be happy. Steve will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and leaves behind 2 children, 3 grandchildren, 5 siblings, and countless close friends and family members. A celebration of life will be held around his birthday in July 2025.

Steve and I were neighbors and shared our birthday a few times for breakfast at slingers in House Springs. He was a fun neighbor. Sorry for your loss

I met Steve when i was about 12. We both lived in Country lane woods. He would come to my house to hang out and my mom would put us to work in the garden. Steve was always a good friend. While we both grew and went different paths, we connected from time to time. I found out that we actually didn´t live far from each other later in life when i moved to Eureka. I was blessed to know Steve. Peace to you and your family.

Steve was my nemesis, lol for years in high-school. we always had great sarcastic banter! about 15 years back we took it to the streets together and hung out alot as friends and created some chaos together, lol never a dull moment. So sorry for everyone's loss, he was awesome. fun loving, kind and a great heart.
