Was counselor in the Arnold C-6 school district until she was reelected to the house in 1976. For the past 10 years she was the owner of Winfield's in Eminence. She served on the education committee while in the house and one of her proudest achievements was literally punching through Truman State University in to existence. She is fondly remembered by her students from Marble Hill rural school, District #69, Shannon County, MO. This was a happy period in her lifetime. She leaves to mourn her siblings. Winnie was definitely one of a kind! She always followed through on any problem that I called about. She always had my vote, for I voted for the one that would be there for us. She was so easy to talk to. There will never be another like her!!!!!!Long live the GOOD memories of her!!!!!

My Aunt Winnie was a strong, vibrant, independent woman. I have always been proud of her for being such a strong independent woman making her way in this man driven world all the way to be a MO state representative. When I visited in 2008 with my Dad, Virgil, my sister Kate and my nephew Josh, I was drawn in by her hotel/restaurant/store Winfields and all of her photos and newspaper clippings of her glory days when she was a state representative. Winnie always demanded the best of everything and wasn't afraid or timid but strong in spirit and spunk. I hope she is living it up where she is now as she did in her glory days. Family is the most important relationship in life. We love you Winnie.

With deepest sympathy to Winnie's family.

Of the first generation of women born in the U.S.A. with the right to vote, she made a difference! Yet, she was of the spirit to have made a difference in any generation and now, no doubt, on any spiritual plane,as well!

February 12, 2010

The friendship we all shared with Winnie will be cherished.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy!
