Alice Ceu Pereira It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Ceu Pereira announces her passing on September 1, 2025, in Manteca, California. She was born on January 28, 1938, in the village of Pedro de Miguel, Faial, on the Azores Islands, to parents Jacinto and Maria Silva. Alice married Joe P. Pereira on August 5, 1959, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and hard work. In 1967, they established their family dairy in the Riverbank/Oakdale area, raising and milking 32 cows and eventually moved the dairy to Escalon in 1972, where they tripled their herd size. Alice worked tirelessly both on the farm and in the home while Joe milked cows for neighbors to provide a bountiful life for their family. Joe and Alice instilled a strong work ethic in their children that has continued throughout the generations. They shared 55 years of marriage until Joe's passing in 2014. May the memories they shared together remain fond and cherished in the Pereira family. Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children Joe P. Pereira, Jr. (Helen) of Linden; Richard Pereira (Lisa) of Escalon; Alice Pereira of Escalon and Darlene Pereira of Manteca; grandchildren Justin, Michelle, Rebecca, Jordan, Taylor, and April; and great-grandchildren Rylie, Austin, Henry, and Haley. She is also survived by her sisters Idalina and Mary. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe, her sons Michael and David, daughter-in-law Dana Pereira, and her nine siblings. Alice will be remembered for her deep love of family, her devotion to her grandchildren, and her caring nature. She cherished animals, especially her dog Rosie, and enjoyed cooking, fishing trips with her sister Idalina in Half Moon Bay, and time spent with loved ones. A visitation for Alice will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 19399 E. Hwy 120, Ripon, with Committal at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
