It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Kulwant Singh Takhar of Stockton, CA on 9/15/25 at the age of 78. He was born on 2/6/47 in Shankar, Punjab to Kuldip Singh and Gurbuchan Kaur. John Kulwant Singh Takhar was a dedicated husband, father, brother, teacher and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and radiant smile. Throughout his life he was known for the service he provided to others, starting with serving for the US Navy, being an educator for 37 years at Stockton Unified School District, coaching softball and dedicating much of his time to the Sikh Temples (Stockton and Lodi). He is survived by his wife, Kuldip Takhar, daughters Sushil, Tasveer, Tanya and Tina, grandchildren Sarina, Adam, Sophie, Dillon, Kylie and Carerra and was preceded in death by his granddaughter Cecilia. SERVICE A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, 9/27/25 at Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 14165 Beckman Road, Lodi, CA. Followed by Antim (ending) Ardaas at DDLS (Lodi Gurdwara) 3123 E. Armstrong Road, Lodi CA. Please leave your condolences below. Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Takhar family.
