Kathy Dougherty

Kathy Dougherty, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2025, just shy of her 82nd birthday. She was born in Newport News, Virginia, on June 26, 1943, and touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Kathy married the love of her life, Joseph, on December 9, 1961. Together, they built a loving life, and in 1979, they moved to Manteca, California, where she became a part of the community. A dedicated educator, Kathy worked for 20 years as a teacher's aide at New Haven Elementary School, retiring in 1998. Her nurturing nature extended beyond the classroom, as she was known for her caring and protective spirit, always putting her family first. Kathy's passions included her faith, reading, puzzles, travel, crossword puzzles and her hobbies of crochet and knitting. She looked forward in setting up Christmas displays, creating joyful holiday memories for her family and friends. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in sharing those moments with her loved ones. She is survived by her sisters Judy, Martha and Nancy, her children Joseph Jr., Martha Joann "Marty", and Kevin, along with her ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Kathy's legacy is one of love, generosity, resilience, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. A Celebration of life service will be on Sunday June 29, 2025 at 4:00 pm held at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel 290 N. Union rd., Manteca, Ca.
