1963 - 2018

Denna L. Close, age 55, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2018, at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was born May 31, 1963, in Sturgis, daughter of Wallace "Butch" and Patricia "Pat" (McLaughin) Bowman.
Denna resided in the Sturgis and Constantine area most of her life.
She had been employed at Bay Bridge Manufacturing in Bristol, Ind., and Custom Colors in White Pigeon and she was a homemaker.
Dena enjoyed what some people would consider an addiction of shopping. She also enjoyed most any activity in the outdoors including kayaking and camping and truly loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by her longtime companion: James Close of Sturgis; one son: Brandon (Erica Mullins) Close of Sturgis; two daughters: Heather (Wayne) Weber of Osceola, Ind. and Kari (Larry Wheeler) Close of Sturgis; seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Kylie, Hope, Donntai, Dohmonik, Lyeasha and Aryhal; mother: Patricia Bowman of Sturgis; father: Wallace "Butch" Bowman of Las Vegas; two brothers: Scott Yoeman and Wallace "Russ" Bowman of Las Vegas; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son: Brian Hahn.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Denna L. Close will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
