Ellen Broker Obituary
She was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Vicksburg, a daughter of the late Walter G. and Ruby C. (Springer) Fritz.
On Dec. 24, 1940, Ellen married the love of her life Mr. Andrew C. Broker. She was employed by Continental Can Company for 15 years.
Ellen was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and honorary member of the Three Rivers C.A.R. Club and the St. Joseph County Horseman's Association.
Mrs. Broker loved to crochet and was a very talented seamstress and embroiderer; she participated in many area craft shows. She also enjoyed her flowers, especially roses, and tending to her garden, as well as word search puzzles, coloring books and watching the Gaithers, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on TV.
Mrs. Broker was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, in 2003; a son, Richard A. Broker; four brothers; and a sister.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons, Larry T. (Mary) Broker of Three Rivers and Terry F. (Diane) Broker of Sturgis; nine grandchildren, Tammy (Robert) Hughes, Holly (Steve) Fryling, Lisa Broker, Torrie (Robert) Thompson, Loreene (John) Kemperman, Jay (Jennifer) Broker, Tabitha Ferrel, Kristina (Kevin) Charles and Andrew (Katie) Broker; she also is survived by 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Sturgis Evangelical Church, 28201 Fawn River Road, Sturgis, with the Rev. Rodger Moyer officiating.
Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers.
Memorials may be donated to Sturgis Evangelical Church or a charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home, which is in care of arrangements.
