Robert Benoit Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Benoit, 69, of Lake Charles, died Monday June 16, 2014 at a local hospital following an extended illness with his loving family by his side.
Bobby was born in Lake Charles to Kirby and Mary Hazel Pelshier Benoit. He worked with the United States Post Office for 42 years, serving as a carrier and supervisor in the Sulphur Post Office, and retired as the Postmaster of the Vinton Post Office. He served as a member of the Louisiana National Guard for 12 years.
Bobby enjoyed his family above all. He was a loving supportive and proud husband, father and grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time flying model airplanes and helicopters and was a lifetime member of the LARKS flying club.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife and companion of 22 years, Mary Delgado Benoit; daughter Penny Benoit Rollins; granddaughter Mary Rollins; step-daughter Sherry Smith and her children Marissa and Thomas Alexander; and step-son Thomas Smith and wife Yoshie and their daughter, Juno; and an uncle, Teal Benoit, as well as numerous friends and extended family.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday June 19, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 6 p.m.
A service of remembrance will follow the Rosary on Thursday. Visitation continues on Friday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Monsignor Jace Eskind officiating. Entombment will follow at Consolota Cemetery.
