Mary Raether Obituary
Memorial Service held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home (141 E 1st St.) in Waconia with Rev. Matt Schroeder as officiant. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Mary Louise Zellner was born August 25, 1949 in Little Falls, MN, the daughter of Gordon and Francella (Rakotz) Zellner. She graduated from North High School. On June 3, 1972, Mary was united in marriage to Roger Raether at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. They were blessed with two daughters.
Mary was an ambitious and driven soul. She worked in reception at Ridgeview Clinics for 20 years. Mary was also an accomplished seamstress working for the Village at first and later independently, through her home. Her talent allowed her to make many clothes for her daughters when they were young. Mary also loved to quilt and was a member of a charitable quilt group.
Mary met the love of her life, Roger, through a mutual friend. After marriage, the pair decided to make a life out on the family farm. She delighted in tending to her family and taking occasional day trips with Roger in her free time. Mary cherished precious moments with loved ones and will be dearly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Roger; parents Gordon and Fran Zellner; brothers Tom Zellner, Mark Zellner; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Ethel Raether.
Mary is survived by her loving family: daughters Jennifer (Michael) Siewert of Glencoe, Amy Raether of Coon Rapids; grandchildren Alexandra (Craig) Ahlers, Robyn Siewert, Jakob Siewert; siblings Kevin (Deb) Zellner, Tim (Vicki) Zellner, Ken Zellner, Brian (Nancy) Zellner, Julie Zellner, Andrea Zellner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials preferred to Gather & Grow food shelf in Waconia or to the American Legion Post 150.
Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, 952-442-2121, www.johnsonfh.com.
