Angela McCathran Obituary
Angela Smith McCathran, originally from Biloxi, MS and proud Biloxi HS Alumni Class of 1975, passed away with her husband and daughter by her side on January 27, 2025 in Delaware. Angela was born July 20,1957 in Amarillo, TX to Joyce and Alfred Smith.
Angela is survived by her devoted husband, Steve McCathran, her loving daughter Taylor Tomaro and son-in-law Robbie, as well as her two cherished grandchildren, Carter and Reagan. She also leaves behind her sister Elizabeth Wilson (Louis), niece Hannah Prather (Paul) and three great-nieces Charlotte, Rosalie, and Margot.
Angela built an incredible career in the credit union industry spanning nearly 40 years, including serving as the CEO and President of Peoples Trust Federal Credit Union (Houston, TX) until her retirement in 2022. She was deeply committed to her work as well as her community, dedicating her time and passion to financial literacy, credit union advocacy on Capitol Hill, and empowering women in the credit union community. Beyond her career, she supported numerous charitable initiatives in the United States as well as Africa, leaving a legacy of generosity and service.
Angela loved traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She was known for her adventurous spirit, her compassion, and her ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved.
A celebration of Angelas life will be held October 18, 2025, from 1-5 p.m. at the Centennial Plaza Resort- Clubhouse in Gulfport, Mississippi. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her extraordinary life.
