Moss Point, Mississippi - Buenaventura Jane' Jane', Jr., better known as Skipper or Skip Jane' to family and friends, suffered a severe stroke on Tuesday morning, December 21st and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital at 4:30 pm on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, at the age of 81.
Skipper led a life filled with travel around the world to many interesting locales such as Puerto Rico, Mexico, Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong, India and even Europe. But his first love was always the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He worked for International Paper Company for several decades. He began collecting stamps and coins as a boy, but he truly came into his own as a collector when he began digging for antique bottles. He then branched out and became a true expert in many types of collectibles as an antiques dealer based in Gautier, MS. His varied collections included antique furniture, figurines, china, crystal, duck decoys, jewelry, paintings, memorabilia (especially from the Gulf Coast) and even swords and civil war covers.
Skipper was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Carl Eley of Moss Point; and Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Jane' of Pascagoula; his parents B. J. Jane', Sr. and Dorothy Eley Jane' of Pascagoula and Moss Point. He is survived by his sister Olivia Jane' Whitten of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his nephew James Harrell Whitten (Teri), niece Elizabeth Jane' Whitten Allison (Morgan), his great nieces Kailee, Jamie, and Sarah Whitten and great nephew Alexander Allison. He is also survived by many cousins on both sides of the family in Jackson County and around the country.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 from 1:00-2:00pm at O'Bryant - O'Keefe Funeral Home, 4811 Telephone Rd., Pascagoula. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Following the service, interment will be at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point.
The family would like to thank the staff of Truewood Retirement Home in Ocean Springs, the staff of Gulfport Memorial Hospital ICU, and especially Lora Triplett and Anne Williams, his caregivers, for their dedicated support and companionship these past several months.
