Charles Webb Obituary

Charles Kent Webb
June 12, 1941 - November 30, 2021
Long Beach, Mississippi - Charles Kent Webb, age 80, of Long Beach passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
Mr. Webb was born in Gulfport to Kent and Lennie Lee Cook Webb. After graduating from Gulfport High School, Mr. Webb studied at Perkinston Jr. College before transferring to the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned his BS Degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Webb had an extensive career in the Mississippi Air National Guard spanning from 1969-1998. His titles included Real Property Technician, Facilities Manager, and Production Control Superintendent, from which he retired as a SMSGT (E-8) in 1998. His areas of responsibility included intermediate supervisor between the base civil engineer and the civilian workforce, oversight of repairs of buildings and systems, supervision over the Aircraft Arresting Systems, Vehicle Control Officer for the civil engineering department, work inspections of contractors, cost reports to base civil engineer, supplies requisitions and storage of same supplies, and all real property records maintenance. His dedication to excellence earned him some very distinguished commendations. This included a 1987 Letter of Appreciation for Superior and Outstanding Support during deployment from the base Civil Engineer and The Mississippi Magnolia Medal in 1981 for outstanding meritorious service while serving as Chief, Work Control, Field Training Site, MS Air National Guard, Gulfport. His contributions resulted in a rating of EXCELLENT from the Inspector General.
Mr. Webb had a love for boating, especially sailing. His interest in sailing became competitive as he participated in races to Florida and Mexico. He was a founding member of the LBYC and served the club as its third Commodore. Mr. Webb will also be remembered for his commitment to going to the gym, where we are not sure if he liked fitness or the social aspect better! Traveling was an important pastime and, over the years, he owned motorcycles and classic cars where he participated in Cruisin' the Coast.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lynda Patterson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Fay Jones Webb; brother, Ernest Webb; and sister, Brenda Webb Trivanovich. He is also survived by special beloved friend, Gannon Leary and family, and an extended family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
