Christine Chesnutt Keel, age 84 of Pass Christian, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel M. Keel; her parents, Fred and Ollie Mae (Hall) Chesnutt; and three siblings, Charlie Chesnutt, Marie Chesnutt Roux, and Fred Chesnutt, Jr.
She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Denny and Ann Marie (Saussy) Keel of Cypress, TX, Lenny and Connie (Clark) Keel of Pass Christian, MS, Freddy and Alyce (Negrotto) Keel of Madison, MS, and Rodney and Kimberly (Moran) Keel of Pass Christian, MS; and her grandchildren, Darren and Darcy Keel of Marietta, GA, Brittany Saussy-Keel of Dallas, TX, Lindsey (Keel) Felter of Pass Christian, MS, and Brandon Keel and Blake Keel, both of Madison, MS; and four Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Annie Maxwell, Sylvester, GA, Leila Stallings, Moultrie, GA, Jan Gates, Little Rock, Arkansas, Bill and Jackie Chesnutt, Moultrie, GA, and Betty and Paul Roerk, Plattsburgh, NE.
She was born and raised in Moultrie, GA. On a visit to see her sister, whose husband was assigned to Keesler Air Force Base, she met and later married Lionel M. Keel in April of 1955, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pass Christian. She served as homemaker, chauffeur, chef and tutor until the mid-1970s, when she joined her husband at W. S. Keel Lumber Company as their bookkeeper. She enjoyed watching football and baseball games. She collected and read cookbooks, searching for something new and delicious to prepare for her family.
Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and administration of One Magnolia Place, Assisted Living Center, and Southern Care Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 22342 Evangeline Rd., Pass Christian, MS 39571.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pass Christian, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass. Interment will be in New DeLisle Cemetery, Pass Christian, MS.
