Mrs. Claire "Weezie" O'Connor, 70, a native of Mobile AL, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 in Biloxi, MS.
A Chapel Service will be held at 12:00 noon at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral home in Biloxi on Monday, December 6, 2004. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until service time at 12:00 noon.
On Tuesday, December 7, 2004 a Mass of Resurrection will be held 11:00 am at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Mobile, AL where friends may visit from 9:00 am till 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Mobile.
Mrs. O'Connor was born in Mobile AL. She graduated from the Convent of Mercy Catholic High School. In 1955 Claire met and married John A. O'Connor at the Spring Hill College Chapel. The O'Connors moved to Biloxi in 1968. "Weezie" as she was affectionately known, was a loving mother and homemaker, and very devoted to her family. She took great pride in her cooking skills and was a gracious host to many. People were the focal point of Weezie's life and she enjoyed many friends and acquaintances.
Mrs. O'Connor was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Robert & Mrs. Emma Constantine of Mobile, a sister Ms. Elizabeth "Betty" Barnett, and a brother Andrew J. Constantine.
Survivors include her husband: Mr. John A. "Jack" O'Connor, Biloxi, one daughter Mrs. Karen Anne Craven of Seattle, WA, two sons Mr. John A. O'Connor II, and Mr. Daniel N. O'Connor both of Biloxi. Four sisters, Mrs. Roberta C. Bourg of Houma, LA., Mrs. Lillian C. O'Connor of Fort Walton Beach, FL., Ms. Denise E. Painter of Mobile, AL., and Mrs. Elna Stokes of Slidell, LA. One brother Mr. R.L. Constantine, Jr. of Mobile, AL.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped in Weezie's 19-month-long battle with pancreatic cancer: Dr. Pande and his staff, everyone at Gulfport Memorial Hospital, especially the staff on the Third Floor, Radiology and the Hospice Caregivers.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to The Salvation Army of Biloxi, P.O. Box 9, Biloxi, MS 39531. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road Chapel is in charge of local arrangements. Pinecrest Funeral Home in Mobile is in charge of Mobile arrangements.
