Dennis "Denny" Marshall, Sr., age 75 and a resident of Long Beach, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004, in Long Beach.
Mr. Marshall was born February 21, 1929, in Kalkaska, MI, and moved to Mississippi in 1945. He was a Baptist, and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USA Randolph and the USS Toledo. He returned to Gulfport after a tour of duty as a commercial fisherman, and made shrimp nets for other boats for over 50 years.
Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Richard William and Leta Worden Marshall; stepmother, Ethel Marshall; wife, Audrey Marshall; brothers, Billy Marshall, Robert Marshall, James Marshall, and Charles Marshall; and a sister, Phyllis Kassube. Survivors include a son, Dennis D. Marshall, Jr., and his wife, Julia, of Long Beach; daughters, Audrey Denise Dauro, of Bay St. Louis; and Janet Smoke and her husband, Sterling, of Long Beach; brothers: Larry Marshall, of Long Beach and Newport, VA; and Wesley Blanchard and his wife, Mary, of Gulfport; sisters, Vivian Marshall, of Newport, VA; and Carol Wehunt and her husband, PeeWee, of Augusta, Georgia; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight, Friday, October 22, from 7:00 until 9:00 at Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
