1935-2015

Saucier

Don Johnson, 79, a resident of Kingston, Tennessee, and Saucier, Mississippi, died Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was much loved by his family and many friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather to more than just his own family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Born May 3, 1935, in Roane County, Tennessee, he was the son of Oscar and Addie Marney Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. He is U.S. Air Force veteran and state retired as a Lieutenant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was a life-long member of Laurel Bluff Church, Kingston, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane L. Johnson, on January 10, 1998, and his daughter, Pamela Johnson Pugh and son-in-law, Joseph Pugh; and three brothers and four sisters (Ben, Harvey, Lloyd, Elsie, Nellie, Zola and Hazel).

Survivors include his long-time companion, Mae Trussell, and her loving family; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Johnson Valestro and Gary Valestro; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Johnson and Suzy Parker Johnson; grandchildren, Sarah Pugh Gladish (Greg), Emily and Anthony Johnson and Rachel and Matthew Howard; great-grandchildren, Christion and Nadia Magee; sisters Myra Faye Johnson Heidle and Peggy Johnson Roach; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service with Pastor Kenny Springle at the Biloxi National Cemetery Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 9am. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor to Laurel Bluff Church, 691 Laurel Bluff Road, Kingston, TN, 37763, or Victory Worship Center, 8616 Ocean Springs, MS, 39564, are appreciated.
