Elizabeth Jane Shaefer "Betsy" Sramek
October 3, 1958 - August 4, 2022
Pass Christian, Mississippi - Our dear mother, wife, sister and grandmother lovingly known as "Beezy", Elizabeth Jane Shaefer Sramek "Betsy", sadly passed away at home surrounded by her family on August 4th, 2022 at the age of 63.
Betsy was born on October 3rd, 1958 in Washington, D.C. to George and Beverly Shaefer. She grew up in San Diego and graduated from UCLA College of Nursing. She worked for a year at UCLA Medical Center before marrying her sweetheart, Steve Sramek, and moving to Pass Christian, MS. She worked at both Garden Park and Gulfport Memorial Hospital in the operating room. She spent the majority of her career as the Perioperative Coordinator of the operating room before retiring in 2021. Betsy devoted her life to the thousands of patients she touched over her 41-year nursing career. Betsy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She loved watching her grandkids play baseball and soccer, and going to dance recitals. She raised her children with love and devotion in Pass Christian, MS with her husband Steve of 40 years.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Edward Sramek; daughters, Amanda Sramek Benvenutti (Ben) of Pass Christian, MS, Lindsey Sramek Hunt (Tyler) of Long Beach, MS, Emily Sramek Cannon (Kollin) of Bay St. Louis, MS; her grandchildren, Wyatt, Beau and Ellie Benvenutti, Rennie, Banks and Walter Hunt, and Maggie Cannon; siblings, Mark Shaefer (Kristy) of Apex, NC, Mary Kay Shaefer (Mark Persic) of Los Angeles, CA, and Barbara Shaefer Wojtach (Rob) of San Diego, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Beverly Shaefer; and her sisters, Rita and Patricia Marie Shaefer.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12th. A visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow the mass at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian. Reception will be held at Christ Episcopal Church parish hall in Bay St. Louis at 1:00 p.m. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Sramek family.
