Erwin Hoffmann Obituary
He was a Suffolk County New York Police officer until retiring in 1983 and then moving to Gulfport. He has left a wonderful legacy of love and respect for one's family. He was a man of impossible dreams and of many talents. He rebuilt old homes, loved working on genealogy, enjoyed fishing and enjoyed time with his wife. A day without him now is going to be a day without his smile, a wife with no more Sonny to say goodnight to, sons with no more Dad and grandchildren and great-grandchildren with no more Opa, and a world that has lost a truly great man. We love you and will always keep you in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Emma Hoffman; and his sister, Lottie.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Regina Hoffmann, who sailed to Salzburg, Austria to marry him the 11th day of December in 1954 in the Cathedral there; two sons, Erwin Hoffman and his wife, Debra of Gulfport and their three children, Michelle Winters of Cherry Valley, NY, Erwin "JR" Hoffmann of Gulfport, and Derek Hoffmann of Slidell, LA and Karl Hoffmann and his wife, Laura of Ossipee, NH and their four children Amanda, Benjamin, Julia and Karl John; his brother, Heinz Hoffmann and his wife Fran of Mobile, AL, their daughter, Carla and two nieces; and eight great-grandchildren.
The Hoffmann family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice in Gulfport and Nancy and Leah for taking care of their husband and Dad and for the care and support given to our family members.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport where friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until the service.
