I had the privilege of working with Dr. Tatum in the CCU at Forrest General Hospital in the early '80's. I have never, ever met a nicer man or doctor in all of my years of nursing. God Bless Dr. Tatum, and God Bless his family. They broke the mold....

Mrs.Tatum,
I really enjoyed Dr.Tatum and you, all those years. I would be talking with you on the phone and your doorbell would ring, and you would say it was Dr.Tatum trying to play a joke on you.
I loved his sense of humor, and the treats he would bring me. Usually something you baked.
He was a pleasure to be around. He was truly a southern gentleman. I know he will be missed by everyone.

When I think of Dr. Fred Tatum, I think first of a gentleman. They just don't make them like that anymore, and Hattiesburg is diminished by Dr. Fred's passing. Rest in peace, sir.

I have had the wonderful honor of having the Tatums as neighbors. Dr Tatum was a wonderful friend and always had a pleasant smile. He and his wife have set the bar high with their 60+ year marriage which in today's world is a serious accomplishment. HE never had a bad thing to say about anyone! He has been a great role model for me as a young physician. He will be missed.

I am with you all in spirit though I'll be unable to be there physically. I love you all. I cherish the times growing up spent with my wonderful Hattiesburg family of which Uncle Fred was a large part, especially riding in his red corvette and his taking special time to talk with me. With love to all, your Yankee cousin, Betsy Norton, Waynesville, NC

Dr. Tatum was one of our original 12 physicians when I began at the Hattiesburg Clinic in 1969. I learned so much from him. He always took the time to teach so you could do your best. We were a very close group back then and Dr. Tatum was a special part of that. I am so proud to have been given the opportunity to work with him.

Dr. Tatum was a wonderful physician. He really cared about his patients. He was always very gentlemanly with the nursing staff. My father in law and he attended Millsaps at the same time and he would often check to see how he was doing. This is a great loss for the medical community of Hattiesburg. Linda Hudson, RN
