Harry James Hebert
July 27, 2021
Biloxi, Mississippi - Harry James Hebert of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the age of 75. Harry was born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Harry was a 1964 graduate of Biloxi High School and an alumnus of Mississippi State University with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Education and a master's degree in Business Administration. Two years into his undergraduate degree, he voluntarily enlisted in U.S. Marine Corp to serve his country. He was a member of the First Battalion Ninth Marines and fought in the Vietnam War for 13 months. After serving his two-year commitment in the military, he returned to MSU to finish his undergraduate and master's degree. He began his real estate appraisal career with MDOT. Three years later, he moved to New Orleans to work as a commercial real estate appraiser and loan officer with various financial institutions. While working in New Orleans, he met his wife of 40 years, Peggy. They later decided to move back to Biloxi to raise their two daughters while he joined his close friend, Roger Poulos, in his real estate appraisal business in 1990 and became an owner in 1995. In addition to his appraisal work with Poulos, Hebert and Associates, he had a passion for teaching and taught "Real Estate Principles", "Income Property Valuation", "Real Estate Law", and "Real Estate Finance" for USM in Long Beach, Mississippi. He also taught numerous real estate classes for the Mississippi Association of Realtors. He was a devoted father and husband who was happiest when his family was together. He enjoyed attending plays at the local theater, Center Stage, and always enjoyed a fine dining experience. It was an honor to attend one of his epic crawfish boils on Mother's Day weekend. As an avid runner, he completed many 10ks, half marathons, and marathons. Always cheering on MSU, he would faithfully ring his cowbell after a victory. He sponsored and assisted in coaching several of his daughters' softball teams for the City of Biloxi Recreation Department. He proudly attended all of his daughters' activities and events, and you would often see him at a softball field or at a Biloxi athletic event where his daughter, Amy, was a cheerleader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. Hebert and Bertha B. Hebert; and his brother, Ted L. Hebert.
Harry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy Vinson Hebert; his daughters, Stephanie (Nick) Hebert Spinucci and Amy (Andrew) Hebert LeRoy; his three grandchildren, Mason and Emma Spinucci and Violet LeRoy; his brother, Mark A. Hebert; his sister, Charlotte (Freeman) Clarke; and his nephews Jim Clarke and Eric Clarke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Feed My Sheep, 2615 19th St, Gulfport, MS 39501.
