JoAnn Weekley, 53, of Ocean Springs, passed away December 19, 2006, in Gulfport.
JoAnn was a native of New Orleans and a resident of the Coast since 1979. She was an Honors Graduate from the nursing program at the University of Southern MS and had been employed at Memorial Behavioral Health Services for the past 10 years. Previously she worked 10 years for Biloxi Regional Hospital in the emergency room and the surgical recovery room. As a nurse she touched the lives of thousands. She improved the quality of life for everyone around her. She lived her life for everyone but herself. She is the truest loving mother that a child could have. JoAnn Weekley inspired awe in me and many others. She is sublime and she is safe. I'll love you forever Mom. We'll miss you. Your Jubal bug, Sabrina White and Tater bug Simmons. She was the Great Wazoo. She was always there and still is. As her husband David stated " No man could ask for a better help-mate, friend, lover or confidant."
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lydia Smith. Her loving survivors include her husband, David Weekley; sons, Caleb Jeremy White of Biloxi and his daughter, Sage Lin White, of Ocean Springs, Jubal Alexander White and his wife Sabrina Jean White, and their daughter, Taylor Renee' Simmons of Vancleave, Jeremy Marcus Weekley of Indianapolis, IN and Austin M. Weekley of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Aubrey Lynn and her husband, Jeremy Charles Jordan, of Gulfport; a brother, Curtis Smith of Ocean Springs; a sister, Jacqueline and her husband, Ken Melancon, and their daughter, Nonpareil Melancon, of Victorville, CA; her father-in-law, Claud Weekley of Ocean Springs; and a beloved friend, Dennis White of Biloxi.
A Celebration of JoAnn's Life will be today, Friday, December 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North in Gulfport. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until service time. An online guest book may be viewed and signed via riemannfuneralhomes.com.
