John E. Ross passed away peacefully on June 4, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Hospital at age 72, surrounded by a family who loved him. His wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned. John was born and raised in Memphis, TN and had retired in Gulfport, Mississippi. John retired from the Veteran's Administration where he served as the Comptroller for the Veteran's Hospital Canteen Services. John was preceded in death his parents R.E. Ross and Florence Ross of Memphis. He is survived by two brothers, Phil Ross (Brenda) of Cunningham, TN and Bobby Ross (Marcy) of Memphis; 3 nephews, Tim Ross, Adam Ross, Matthew Ross, and 2 great nephews, Aidan Ross and Rylan Ross. Although John was a graduate of the University of Memphis, he was a life-long, devoted fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, having attended 399 straight Ole Miss Football games. My husband and I own Sports Shack in D'iberville, MS. We did not know John had passed away. He would come visit our Collegiate store every Saturday before or after he went to the local theater. I am a Southern Miss Fan and my husband is Ole Miss. We enjoyed spending time with John. He loved Ole Miss! We miss you John and know you will be cheering for Ole Miss in heaven.
