Loys Charbonnet IV

1970 - 2025

Loys Charbonnet, IV, son of Caroline Hewes Charbonnet and the late Loys Charbonnet, III, died of cancer on September 6, 2025, in Miami, FL. Loys was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 17, 1970. He is survived by his mother and his sister, Caroline Helen Charbonnet. He is also survived by his aunt Cynthia Hewes Speetjens (Joseph) Jackson, MS, uncle Gaston Hewes (Stephanie), Lafayette, LA, and aunt Jan Charbonnet Crocker. (Edward - deceased) Charlottesville, VA.

Loys lived in Jacksonville until he was six, when he moved to Miami where he lived in the Casterline Group Home for almost 50 years. He was loved and cared for by many people there through the years, especially Sharell Mike, Kai, Lillian, Charlotte, Renee, Geraline, Donna, E Price, Tee Tee, Eljin, Chris Gaviria, Sherell Daniels, the late Patty Casterline and her mother. The support and care he received from Vitas Hospice in Broward and Dade counties was outstanding and comforting. Loys's special friends in Jacksonville included Pat Setzer, Thelma Brown and the late Mildred Eason. Loys especially enjoyed the care and support of Robbie Howell this past year, who ensured he had many happy times. Apologies to anyone not mentioned; please know any kindness to Loys was appreciated very much.

There will be a reception for Loys in Miami for his group home family. A memorial service is planned in Jacksonville at a later date.
