Marlos Jones Obituary

Marlos Bernard Jones was born on February 7, 1977 to Charlie Barnes and Gwendolyn Jones of Gulfport, MS. He attended North Gulfport 7th and 8th grade and also Biloxi High School. He worked at Kyle's Paint and Body Shop and also employed at Memorial Hospital At Gulfport. He was well liked by everyone and had numerous friends. Marlos passed away unexpectedly, early Sunday morning, March 5, 2006 in Gulfport, at the age of 29.

Marlos's favorite activity was exhibiting his cars and especially his rims to his friends and other onlookers. Marlos was notorious for his extreme customizations on his various vehicles. He often referred to himself at "The Car Show King". In 2005, he ranked second place at the Doug Magazine Car Show competition in New Orleans, LA, where he sported his red brightly painted big wheeled Monte Carlo. He most recently participated in the Scraping The Coast Car Show held in Gulfport, MS.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sidney and Mary Jones.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Shyra Jones of Gulfport; four sons: Casey Williams and Amaru Jones both of Gulfport, Marlon Jones of Maryland, and Marlos Jones of Atlanta, GA; four daughters: Nachaska Wright, Destinee Jones, Treasure Jones, and Malaysia Jones all of Gulfport; his parents: Charlie Barnes, and Gwendolyn Jones of Gulfport; four brothers: Marcus Jones, Robert McGee, Charles Barnes, Jr., and Clarence Montgomery all of Gulfport; two sisters: Supones Jones and Protranna (Randy) Jones both of Gulfport.

Services will be noon, Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 4538 Old Pass Road in Gulfport, MS where Rev. L. J. Adams Jr. is pastor. Rev. James Beal of Little Rock will deliver the eulogy and words of encouragement to the family and his friends. Visitation will began at the church two hours prior to service time. Burial will follow at Flora Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.

Care of my husband is entrusted only to the professionalism of MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME.

Well, it'll be 13 years tomorrow since you left this earthly life. It certainly doesn't seem that long ago! Jay is so much like you. He'll soon be having his first child, a son, whom Jay says will be named Marlos also. I'm sure life has been difficult for all the children you left behind, some more difficult than others. You are truly missed by many people who loved you & loves you still. I pray you are flying high Marlos! RIP

I prefer to write here at least once a month although I think of you much more than that, so that when Jahylen gets older he can read about things people wrote. He misses you very much and talks about you everyday. He went to the hotel here in Georgia and still remembered the exact room you were in when you were here and wanted to go in the room and asked if you had left a bottle in there and wanted to know if you had touched it. He misses you so much and values everything that has ever cam from you. We miss & love ya.

I still miss you and think of you often. I have to catch myself from getting angry that I can't talk to you and that you had to go. People say God has a time for everyone and not to question it but I can't help but to ask why? everyday.

May 13, 2007

Dear Marlos, I know you are in heaven looking down. I went to your burial site today. I made pics with my cell phone and sent to Amy and Jahylen. I was surprised to see that you still had flowers for Christmas and there were no others there. I was thinking about Jahylen and what he said about 'taking you flowers and the things you need.' Jahylen will be coming here for the summer so Jahylen and I will bring some new flowers for you. Amy and Jahylen miss you so much. It breaks my heart that Jahylen and your other children are left behind but I know that God had a purpose for taking you when He did. I know we must accept that and look for the good that is to follow all things, for this is written in God's Word...We all love you Marlos.......

April 21, 2007

Well Marlos, you are up there looking down on all of us. For some reason tonight(3:50a.m), I have had you on my mind, very much. I can't explain it, but, I am sure you know what it is about. It is just an odd feeling and it is not just the fact of you not being here on earth. In a way, it is kind of an erie feeling. I pray all your family and especially your children(x-special for Jahylen; you know, Jay being my grandson)God, please keep them all safe both night and day..........You are truly missed by so very, very many people.......

Amanda Crockett

April 3, 2007

We still are missing you. I took Jahylen swimming a couple of days ago. He was showing me the things you taught him when you were here in Atlanta in the pool. It made me realize that everything we say and show children, no matter what age they are, it will stick with them for the rest of their life. We think of you everyday and I hope you know that your kids admire you even when your not here!!

Rebecca Fortenberry

March 5, 2007

Marlos, you are missed by so many people. Amy just called me and I could tell she is really down today.
I will never forget when you and Amy were together. You called me one night and said, "Ms Fortenberry, I just love Amy so much". This is truly a time to remember. The day you were laid to rest, your son, Jahylen, left with me after the services. It really broke my heart when Jahylen said, " I wish my Dad wasn't buried in a wall." "I wanted him to be buried in the dirt so I can take him flowers and things he needs".It was really hard for me to contain myself when he said that. He is such a smart and handsome little boy. The older he gets the more I can see you in him. Kids can say some things sometimes that adults never think about. I know Jahylen misses his Dad as do your other children. Amy misses you too.
This is your one year anniversary in the Kingdom of Heaven. Time passes so fast now and soon there will be others who will join you in Glory Land.

February 12, 2007

I was sitting at home last night and had so many things I wanted to tell you. I miss you so much and wish I could just talk to you. It has almost been a year now and I still can't believe you are not here. I thought you would always be here and I would always be able to talk to you. For the first time since you were taken I am more angry than I am hurt and have asked why you, so many times. Why do it have to be you. We all miss you and know you are in a better place.

Rebecca Fortenberry

February 7, 2007

I did not remember today was your birthday. My daughter, Amy, just called me a little while ago. She said she had been sick all day. She had been trying to call me all day and just got in touch with me. She truly loved you in many ways. You were her first true love. I know she and your son, Jahylen miss you immensely. So do many others. I know this is the happiest birthday ever for you for you are in a much better place. We all know you are your childrens' guardian angel now. There are still many prayers that are truly unanswered, but as the song goes, sometimes unanswered prayers are the best ones. Everything is God's will and His alone for all those who believe. My deepest love to my daughter and especially my precious grandson, Jahylen and to all the others left behind to find their way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND YOU ARE MISSED BY MANY

Amanda Crockett

January 25, 2007

Well its not long until your birthday and your not here. This will be the first one without you. The closer it gets to times like this the more I think about you. I miss you so much and I wish you were here. I have lost my bestfriend and the only person outside of my family I could talk to anything about.

December 13, 2006

Tis the season to celebrate a new life; the life of JESUS. Jesus came into this world giving us a new life, apart from being cast into an outer darkness that before Christ we were doomed for. We weap for the loss of Marlos because of the special people such as my grandson Jahylen Jones, Marlos' son, that were left behind at such a young and tender age. With prayer and time, loss of a loved one finds a resting place within us. The loss never goes away, it is still there and at certain times and seasons of our lives, we take the loss out and wipe away yet more tears. We realise that with each tear shed and each season passed; we become closer to being reunited with that special loved one gone on before us. Peace and love be to all of the loved ones left behind this season. God bless you and keep you Jahylen and Amy.

I wish to express my condolences to all who loved Marlos but most especially to all the children Marlos left behind who all loved him so dearly. A very special condolence to Marlos's son Marlos Jahylen, who is my grandson, who loved his father deeply and always said 'my daddy is strong, he has big muscles.' It is at a time like this we all think of what used to be the little things but in hindsight they were the biggest and most important. May God be with all this family and friends. Marlos has now began an everlasting journey of peace and love and will always look down on his children and hear their every word when they speak to him for Marlos has now taken up the wings of an angel.
