Roosevelt Dodd Obituary

Roosevelt Dodd, Sr.

Mr. Roosevelt "Sonny" Dodd, Sr. 71, of Biloxi, MS. departed this life on October 5, 2004, in Ocean Springs, MS.

Sonny was a native of Kosciusko, MS. He retired from Civil Service after 30 years in January, 1998. Before that, Sonny was the Head Porter at the Buena Vista Hotel on Highway 90 ; a union that lasted 15 years. He was a long standing member of the St. Paul Methodist Church. Mr. Dodd was known as a handyman, always ready to help others with their projects, in his local community. He was, also, a very compassionate animal lover. Everyone knew him as the "dogman" and of his interest in taking part in annual parades.

Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Ramsey; his brother, Benny Jones and his sister, Thelma Jones.

Mr. Dodd will be sadly missed by his wife Ernestine Dodd of Biloxi, two sons, Roosevelt Dodd Jr. of Gautier, Elvis Dodd (Shelia) of Gautier, two daughters, Bonnie Tennort (George) of Gulfport, and Margo Hines (Frank) of Gulfport, one brother, Harry Dodd (Barbara) of Las Vegas, NV, one sister, Willie Mae Murray (Willie B.), twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Dodd will be Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 6-8PM and Monday 10:30 - 11:30AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Biloxi. Services will be Monday at 11:30AM at the church. Burial will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. Services for my husband are entrusted only to the professionalism of MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME.
