Sidney Toche Obituary

Sidney John Toche

February 11, 1947 - March 19, 2025

Pensacola, Florida - Sidney John Toche, 78, of Pensacola, FL and native of Biloxi, MS passed away and went to his heavenly home, Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

Born February 11, 1947, he was the first of four living children born to Joseph A. Toche, Sr. and Aline Ryan Toche. His love for "all things boat" began at an early age. Since he could walk, he spent every opportunity he had and many summers working in his uncles, fathers and grandfather's shipyard when he wasn't on Active Duty in the Army National Guard. Sid's love of boats was so strong, it led him into a career of boat building, design and manufacturing where he remained active in this industry, until his recent passing. Throughout his career, he designed and built boats of all types and materials, many of which were prototypes in various industries. In 2022, he published a book titled, "The Last Boat Builder" which details the Toche family boat legacy in pictures and print. This book is displayed in the Maritime and Seafood Museum in Biloxi, his hometown.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph A. "Bubba" Toche, Jr.

Sidney is survived by sisters, Sheila Toche Landry (Elwood) and Margaret Toche Parker (James-deceased); his children, Tiffany Toche Travis (Fred) and Justin Toche (Kim); grandchildren, Katelyn Toche Bundy (Jerry), Kameron Toche (Hannah), Daniel Travis and Elissa Travis; great-granddaughter, Annistyn Bundy; as well as three aunts, along with a host of many other nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Pensacola, FL, with Fr. John Licari celebrant. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Biloxi Cemetery.

His family would like to thank Vitas and their hospice unit for the kindness and mercy shown during the last days of his earthly life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic, the Make a Wish Foundation, or the Autism Partnership Foundation in his memory.

I am so sorry about Sid's passing. We were friends in high school and even had a few dates. Luckily about 3 weeks prior to his passing, I got the chance to speak with him for about an hour and catch up from days long past and he certainly was in a good mood. I am so grateful I had that opportunity and have good memories to always cherish. Rest in peace forever in Heaven, sweet friend, Sid. ✝

Wishing all the Toche family peace and comfort in the days and weeks to come. You are all in my thoughts and prayers with love. ❤✝❤
