Gulfport, Mississippi - Talmadge L. Mauldin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was born on July 31, 1933, in Stringer, Mississippi, and he lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Talmadge enjoyed a reputable career as a Federal Civilian, completing his professional journey with Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base. His commitment to duty extended beyond his civilian work; he honorably served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and the National Guard, exemplifying his dedication to his country.
Education was a cornerstone of Talmadge's life. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, earning his undergraduate degree, as well as a Master's degree and a Doctor of Philosophy. His thirst for knowledge was matched only by his desire to share that knowledge with others.
As an active member of Handsboro Baptist Church, Talmadge was a beacon of faith and inspiration to many. He loyally served as a deacon and participated in the choir, uplifted by his spiritual community and providing steadfast support to those around him.
Talmadge was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Gloria Clay Mauldin, who departed this world in April of this year, and his dear daughter, Deborah Switzer, whose absence left a significant void in the hearts of their family. He was also predeceased by his parents, Robert and Vida Mauldin, and his sister, Ava Nell Graham.
He is survived by his son, David Mauldin and his wife Emily; his brother, Joe Mauldin and his wife Sylvia; his grandson, Brian Switzer and his wife Jill; and his great-grandchildren, Aubrey Switzer and Amber Howard & her husband Jacob.
Talmadge L. Mauldin will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and contributions but, more importantly, for the love he shared and the memories he created with his family and friends. His legacy of faith, education, and service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. All who knew Talmadge are invited to join and honor his remarkable life.
