Entry #1
Upon arriving home post-Hurricane Katrina, the streets were imaginable. Debris cluttered highways and neighborhoods making even the short cuts home very, very long. And as common after a natural disaster, herds of emergency response and debris removal teams were sent to clear the pathways so that residents who evacuated could have some type of clear, safe path home. I remember at some points, the path was very clear--motorists had no option but to follow the path as marked. There were some areas that had visible detour signs and some that did not. However, it was so easy to determine by using our naked that those unmarked streets were impassible. Within neighborhoods, there were men placed in certain spots to direct traffic and/or answer questions and to even check identification so that only those residents who truly stayed within the neighborhood could pass through. At one point, there were no signs or no, first-hand, visible debris which provided a false pool of options to get home. However, after trial and error, we learned that even those streets were blocked by debris or led to dead ends.
And such is the same with life. After a storm, God dispatches 'emergency response’ and 'debris' removal’ teams way ahead of us to clear a safe path home. There are times when He gives us strict rules to follow, with no options. And at some points, there are visible detour signs. There are also times when they aren't any visible detour signs, but the spiritual eye can see that it is unsafe to pass. God also uses people to guide us and answer our questions to ensure that we are on the right path home. And even when we are swayed by a false pool of options or we have to learn by trial and error eventually running into partially blocked or dead end streets, God is still there protecting, guiding and heading the road to recovery.

My heart and prayers go out to the adkins family. Trudy was truly a special person we would run into each other from time to time, shopping mostly! Trudy always had a smile on her face and brought one to mine. I feel she is still up above doing the same thing. May god bless you and I will keep you all in my prayers to stay strong.

Trudy,
It has been since high school since I have seen you. If anything, I would be the most distant person from your memories, but I remember you well. I still remember your enthusiasm and your voice. I can hear you now. You always had a smile on your face. You are in so many of my memories from when we were in band. I know with your personality you have touched many peoples’ hearts. I know you will be watching over many!
