Ft. Lauderdale has a unique Gay/Lesbian history, a lot of which you co-wrote with many other fearless pioneers. God bless you for that.

Alan,
I never thought when we first met, our friendship would've endured throughout so many years. I still remember the day Dennis Delia, Former President of G.U.A.R.D, introduced me to you. It was only after that day and our conversation that I decided I would get involved in GLBT Political issues again. Something I had said I would never do again, after I decided to move to South Florida from the NY/NJ area. It was the passion I heard in your voice and saw in your HEART that truly showed me that together we could make a major difference in the lives of the GLBT community in South Florida.
Boy Alan, did we make a difference in many lives huh? between You, me, Delia, Trantelis, Bodiford, and Karl Clark we sure made South Florida the place to live and play. With the help of great politicians like Lori, Sue, Tim, and Ron the Sheriff and so many to mention, we made some really great changes for the LGTB community and for generations to come. It's funny Alan, I look at some of the young guys and girls out along the drive and other parts of SoFla and at times it kills me. It hurts me so much sometimes, only because I know that most likely more than half of them have no idea what you and I, and so many other older Gay Men and Women did, put up with, and lost, so that they could be able to hug and kiss their significant other openly and so that they can go from bar to bar along Wilton Drive and all over South Beach and Miami. I worry about who will continue those fights Alan. I still do a lot for the community and Police Agencies as I did before and many officers know they can, and still call on my for help when it comes to GLBT issues, and I always make myself available to them. I will always help for as long as I can. I will miss you my friend and so will our community they just don't know it yet.
Till we see each other again Alan,
Your good friend forever,
Tony Ramos

Uncle Alan,
I miss you so much! I know you are whole and in a better place and in no pain. Remember the freckles & you trying to erase them??? I have such fond memories of us together going to the clubs, shopping & eating at the best restaurants. RIP. Your #1 Glooksfluten.

Alan, you will be missed. As terrible as it was back then, I believe it was our time to shine. Who would have thought I'd still be here to see you pass on before me. You will be in my heart, my friend.
