I still find myself thinking of Dr. Stein all these years later and at first, it makes me smile and then I feel sad that he is gone. I was fortunate to be one of his patients that he successfully treated. He was a wonderful soul.

Dr. Stein did a talusnavicular fusion on my right ankle in 1968. It was the first of its kind and he did a magnificent surgery that not only gave me the ability to walk normal, but gave me the ability to continue my martial art training to become a master black belt instructor and it became my career of 48 years of teaching. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Al, as he was called by not only his staff but by his patients, was truly one of the best in his field! He gave so much of himself, even after his neck had been broken in a car accident. I remember seeing him walking into the patients rooms wearing the cage on his head. He didn't let anything stop him. I had failed back surgery from amdr in Miami. As a last resort, Dr. Al injected my back numerous times with Prolo Therapy. It worked wonders for me! I will always be grateful to him for all the help he gave me over the years. I'm so sorry to know he has passed away. He was revered and loved by so many, patients and co-workers alike.

Dr. Stein gave me my life back after treating a chronic SC joint dislocation. He also gave my life direction - I wanted to follow in his footsteps and I applied to medical school. In a few months I'll be graduating from UVA and specializing in PM&R. I hope I can be a fraction of the physician Dr. Stein was. He left the world a better place and I will always remember him. My condolences to his family - he was a great man.

Dr. Stein helped me a long time ago (2001)with prolotherapy for my neck. I was nervous but he was wonderful throughout the treatment. I have often smiled when I thought about him. He was a wonderful doctor and always had something funny to say. I'm so sorry he had to go through this illness. Please know that he was well thought of; he brought a great spirit to the world and will definitely be missed.

A great man has passed away. I got prolotherapy treatments from him a few years ago. I knew he was in pain but he soldiered on and doctored on. He loved to spread his knowledge via radio and broadcasted for years for an hour or two each week. When you met him you knew he was old school and an iron man.

I am grateful to have known Alvin a little, meeting him through his involvement with the AAOM. He was highly regarded there, with good reason, but I did not know until now the greater scope of his life, formidable medical career, leadership in his community, and of course, his family. When I reached out for help he responded generously with time, wise counsel, and friendship. We have indeed lost a giant of a man, but his family's loss is greater. My condolences to them.
