Anthony DiStasio Obituary

DiStasio DiStasio, Anthony John 79 of Pompano Beach, FL (formally of Wethersfield, CT) was called back to his Heavenly Father on December 12, after a brief illness. Born January 19,1931 in Waterbury, CT to John W. and Vivian DiStasio. He was the older brother of John W. DiStasio, Jr. (deceased) and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Perugini. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Saint Michael?s College. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Preventative Medicine Specialist. While stationed at Fort Bragg, NC he met the love of his life, Surgical Specialist Lillian Rapoli. They were to celebrate their 55th Wedding Anniversary on February 13, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, and two children, Dr. Anthony J. DiStasio II and his wife Mary Alys of Chesapeake, VA and Victoria Flood and her husband Rick, of Bermuda. He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren, Jenna, John, and Scott DiStasio and Samantha and Rickie Flood. He left many loved nieces and nephews. ?Tony? dedicated over 35 years to Quality Control in the aircraft industry as a metallurgist for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. His love of science was furthered as a teacher of Honors Chemistry and Physical Science at Hartford and South Catholic high schools, in Hartford, CT. His leadership and charitable heart were evident throughout his life. Whether orchestrating a pancake breakfast for hundreds of people, with his buddies at St Gabriel Catholic Church, or acting as Commissioner of the Wethersfield Housing Authority, he lived to serve others. Calling hours are Wed. Dec. 15th 4-8 pm at the Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 N Federal Hwy. Pompano Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thurs. Dec. 16th 11 am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 731 North Ocean Blvd., Pompano Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Cardinal Gibbons Catholic High School, 2900 NE 47th St. Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308
