Barry Van Dyke Obituary

Dyke Van Dyke, Barry, of Dunnellon, FL died on May 10, 2011 of complications from kidney disease. Barry was born March 2, 1936 and attended school in Philadelphia, PA. After school he served in the Navy as a Quartermaster from 1955 to 1957. He joined BellSouth and settled in Miami, where he met his wife Carol. Barry was an excellent athlete and sportsman, pursing a lifelong passion for baseball, football, soccer, softball and golf. Barry coached youth baseball and soccer for 15 years with the Cooper City, FL Optimists. Barry was loyal to his job, serving Bell South and then AT&T for 30 years, retiring in 1988. During his retirement, Barry worked for Quest as a courier and made many friends throughout North Central Florida. Barry is survived by Carol, his wife of 53 years; sons Kevin, of St. Augustine and Kurt, of Dunnellon; three grandchildren; his brother David VanDyke, of Philadelphia, PA; and his sister Diane Minalga, of Longmeadow, MA. Memorial Donations should be made to Boys and Girls Club of St Augustine. The memorial visitation will be handled by Roberts Funeral Home and Crematory in Dunnellon, FL, 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. Thank you to Robyn Brown and Mike Berry for their love and support. I am so sad for the loss of Barry Van dyke, so sad , he was charming and his decency showed through in his character on screen , he surely is an impressive man who was much love by many and best wishes and love to his family, kindest regards Diane Brooker
