Billie McClurg Obituary

McClurg, Billie Marie Wattenbarger was born August 30, 1922 in Vinita, the county seat of Craig County, Oklahoma to Charles Oscar Wattenbarger and Edna Fairy Akins. She was the third of four children. Brother Jack Wattenbarger and sister Nola Pauline Wattenbarger Wynn pre-deceased her; sister Carolyn Sue Wattenbarger resides in Granite City, IL. Billie Marie married Lawrence Jay Smith in 1942 and had two children; Larry Smith and Suzanne Smith Nelson, both of NC. Billie has three living grandchildren, Kelly (Keith) Schopp and Nicole (John) Leiviska, both of WI and Mitchell Herian of NC; one grandson Spencer Herian who predeceased her. Seven great grandchildren, Hallie and Jacob Schopp; Jamie, Megan and Joel Leiviska; Matthew and Madeline Herian. Billie is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Donald McClurg of Hollywood. Billie, who was a lifelong golfer, wished donations be made to the Broward County Junior Golf Association in lieu of flowers. The family will receive family and friends at the home on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. to celebrate the life of Billie Marie McClurg.
