Bruce Douglas Obituary

DOUGLAS Douglas, Bruce Barlow, age 69, son of Malcolm Eller Douglas and Alice Barlow Douglas, a fifth generation native of Janesville, died April 8, 2002, at his home in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL. Bruce graduated from Janesville High School. He attended the UW Madison and graduated from Milton College in Business. Bruce served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Bruce retired in 1998 having served as Senior Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Redwing Insurance Company. Prior to that he was President of Citizens Mutual Insurance Company from which he developed Citizens Quality Data. Early in his career he worked in accounting as an auditor for General Motors. Bruce served as President of the Janesville Country Club and was a member of the Rotary Club. Bruce is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ryan Douglas and preceded in death by Harriet Haugan Douglas (1995). His brother Richard Barlow Douglas (Nancybelle Swan) resides in Milton. Bruce was the loving father of a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Randall (Steve) of Toronto and two sons, Steven Kent Douglas and his former wife, Christina F. Douglas both of Madison and James Bruce Douglas (Heather Ball) of Madison and grandfather to four children. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Janet Kay Ryan of Boston and three stepsons, Stanley Hutter Ryan (Zoe Alderfer) of Minneapolis, Tobin Mathew Ryan (Oakleigh McKelvy) of Janesville, Paul Davis Ryan (Janna Little) of Janesville. He was also the stepgrandfather of five children. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2002, at the First Congregational Church, Janesville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Thursday at Schneider Funeral Home, Janesville.
