My Dad was born September 17, 1923 in North Weymouth, MA to Frank and Ingrid Crane. He grew up in Newington CT, graduated from the U. Connecticut, was an Eagle Scout and served in the 450th Bombardment Group, 720th Squadron in WWII. He wrote at the 450th website about his memories of that time. Formerly of Framingham, MA, where he served as a Town Meeting member for 20 years, Dad worked as a technical writer for the Reece Corporation in Waltham, MA. Later as a 23-year resident of Key West, FL, he spent his golden years sailing, winning the Around the Island sunfish race in his late 70s, and playing tennis. He was the first commodore of the Key West Sailing Club, co-founder of the Key West Unitarian/Universalist Fellowship, active in the local community volunteering for the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and served as an advocate for children at risk and their families. As a Unitarian-Universalist lay minister, he was in demand in Key West to perform many marriages. He and my Mom, Ella May, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April. Along with Mom, dad is survived by daughters, Claudia Crane, Cynthia Crane, Pamela Stalker, and I, Andrea Laford. He has 6 grandchildren, and one brother, Robert Crane of Maine. He was preceded in death by his brother Carl and sister Eleonor Potter and Uncle and namesake, C. Howard Crane, a midwest architect known for designing elaborate movie theaters in the Midwest during the 1930s and Earl's Court in London. As a silent teacher, Dad has donated his body to the University of Miami. I am very proud of him and dearly miss him.
