MSgt.Catherine Murray USMC (ret.) of Fort Lauderdale, age 100, Retired Master Sergeant, US Marine Corps, Retired Holy Cross Hospital volunteer, member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mercy Associates and the Women Marines Association passed away with dignity and peace at her home on December 20, 2017. She is reunited in heaven with her parents John J. and Katharine Frances Murray, her aunt, Ellen Kenney and beloved brothers Reverend Father John J. Murray and Robert E. Murray. Catherine is survived by her companion and caregiver of 22 years, Mark Adkins, and her many dear friends. Visiting will be on, December 26th. from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. pm at Baird-Case Jordan- Fannin Funeral Home, 4343 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 27th., at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Drive, Fort Lauderdale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's memory may be made to Holy Cross Hospital. www.bairdcaseftlauderdale.com

So many of us felt a tragic loss of a wonderful friend and attended Catherine's funerals out of love and respect for her. Her beloved Marines honored her with a beautiful service in Arlington National Cemetery and here is the locations and information. When you are in Arlington please visit Catherine for a sweet "Hello"

I was blessed to be a friend of Catherine's. My favorite memories where when Catherine would sing to me!
One of her favorites to sing was "His eye is on the sparrow". I also attended Catherine's 99th Birthday!!!

Catherine was such a joy to be around and being in her presence was truly a gift. She was always in a great mood, kind and loving. I especially enjoyed the few times Mark took her to my work at the time Broward Heatlh Imperial Point to see me.....They found me and lite up my world - come to visit me.....what an honor it was to see them both. I had the extreme pleasure of just not knowing Catherine but got to know Mark Atkins on a personal level. I consider them both life long friends. As it's very sad that Catherine is no longer with us - just thinking of her last 22 years with Mark by her side and all that she shared with us on her accomplishments puts a smile in my heart and face. I know without a doubt Catherine is reunited with her family and friends on the other side and will be there to greet us when it's our turn to enter. God bless her and all those that she touched with her spirit and kindness. Thank you Mark for bringing Catherine to us and allowing us to enjoy her days filled with love.....100 years old she blessed this world with her love and joy. Thank you for allowing us to visit, celebrate and get to know the loving person she was. She will leave behind a legacy unlike any other. All my love to you Mark, You have been such a godsend to her and thank you for all you shared on this journey.
