Charles Barger Obituary

Charles Glenn Barger, Jr. (Chip), 61, passed away peacefully at home in Merritt Island, FL, on 12/20/23, with family by his side. Chip was born in Durham, NC, on 4/28/62, to Charles and Jean Barger and moved to LHP, FL, in 1964. Chip spent his summers with his family in Lake Toxaway. He attended Pine Crest School in Ft. Laud, FL. A proud Gator, Chip graduated with a BA in History from UF in 1984 where he was a member of the water ski team and Delta Tau Delta fraternity.

Chip attended the Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, GA, and loved the history of his alma mater. Chip joined the law firm of Nance, Cacciatore, Hamilton, Barger, Nance & Cacciatore. He was a member of Mercer Law Review, GA Bar Association, FL Bar Association, National Board of Trial Advocacy, and Super Lawyers.

Chip was a man of adventure. Many were drawn to his contagious personality. He was a master storyteller at home and in the courtroom. Chip is survived by family that adores him: his partner, Alicia Faessen, his parents, Jean and Charles Barger, his brother, Steve Barger (Cheryl), his sister, Elizabeth Barger Anthony (Brannon), and many nieces and nephews.

So sad to learn of Chips passing. I will always remember how as a little league coach and umpire he took my young son under his wing and was a great mentor, friend and role model and left an indelible impression on my son's life. He gave my son a framed quote of Albert Einstein's that says " Not Everything that Can be Counted Counts and Not Everything that Counts Can be Counted." He was a very kind and a giving person and we both will never forget him. Laurie and Sasha Myers

I am so sorry to read about Chip´s passing. I was at PC from 1972-80. I remember the Barger´s very well. I have been in Rome, GA at Darlington School since 1985. I am in my 53 rd year of coaching baseball and softball.

My deepest sympathy,

I have so many great memories of Chip from Pine Crest days. Weekends spent at HoJo´s beach and lots of discussions about waterskiing! I wish I had kept the letters we wrote back and forth in the summer after 6th or 7th grade. He´d share about the great skiing at Lake Toxaway and I´d share my ski stories from our lake in Wisconsin. He was a great friend. I send my deepest condolences to Alicia, Mr. & Mrs. Barger, Steve, Liz and all of your family. He was so loved.

So very, very sad to hear about Chip. He was my best friend at Pine Crest when we were so young. We had many fun adventures together. These pictures of us are how I'll remember him in my heart forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to Chip's family and everyone else who loved him.
