Daniel Lamberti Obituary

Daniel Craig Lamberti passed away at his home in Fort Lauderdale, FL on March 30, 2023. He was born in Newark, NJ on May 4, 1954 to Pasquale and Shirley Lamberti. He was the youngest of their six children including Susan, Pasqualine (Patsy), John Ricardo (Ricky), Kirk, Greg, and later became an older brother to Bill, from his mother's second marriage.

Daniel is survived by his sister Susan Lamberti Beck and husband BG, brother Kirk Lamberti and wife Cecily, and Bill Van Dunk; five nieces and nephews, including Anthony Marsh, Gabriel Lamberti, Blake Lamberti, Melissa Beck Hoff, and Jonathan Beck; 14 great nieces and nephews; and life-long friend John Shea as well as many friends who loved him dearly. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings Patsy Lamberti Marsh, Ricky Lamberti and Greg Lamberti.

Dan lived "large" and loved to the fullest and that was felt by those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his flare and sarcasm, both of which only he could pull off. He lived a full and meaningful life. He touched the lives of so many in profound ways. His proudest moment was earning a MSW from Temple University, which gave him a rich perspective on his life's work. Dan was an activist, advocate, role model and supporter of the LGBTQ community. Daniel became involved in what was then called the gay movement in the 80s. He spent decades and worked tirelessly, deeply devoted to counseling aids patients during the AIDS epidemic. He worked at Planned Parenthood counseling groups of men and women. During the time he lived in the metropolitan area of New York, he was constantly sought out by well known people for his skills as a stylist and fashion coach. He also excelled at playing bingo, often memorizing 10 or more cards and he seldom went home without something in his pockets. Consistent with his big personality, he even graced the silver screen, when he appeared as an extra in Cruising, a 1980's Al Pacino movie. He gave so much to many and he will be deeply missed.

Dan wished for memorial donations to be made to The Trevor Project (thetrevorproject.org), serving LGBTQ young people.

Dan , I miss you . You made a difference in life for so many . As we all want to go on for ever, this is not to be . And now I realize how much you gave of yourself , because I can´t tell you . I will carry my Love for you always . Life wasn´t alway for us all , it was a struggle to endure at times , But you have given us an example on how to keep hope and faith to persevere and still keep smiling . Where did you go , because I still feel you in my heart and head. Thank you for adding to my life and continue to add to all you left behind. I miss my biggest brother and friend . See you around the corner.

My dear brother, it is a testament to your strength, character and good heart that you were able to overcome the significant adversity you faced, starting as a child, and accomplish so much. You took a path that led to a Masters in social work and used your education and personal experience to help others. Many people have told me the life changing difference you have made in their lives. You are so loved by so many. I am so sad for my loss.
