David Rhodenbaugh Obituary

David M. Rhodenbaugh, 67, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on March 16, 2016. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his passing, after a tough battle with pancreatic cancer. Known by his close family as "Mickey", to his friends he was "Dave", a charismatic and charming man with a sarcastic wit and sparkling blue eyes. In the 70's and 80's he was owner and President of DMR Tire and DMR Custom, and had a short but exciting and successful stint as a professional motorcycle racer in the Heavyweight Superbike Division in the mid-1980's. He retired from racing, but motorcycles stayed in his blood and he made a career selling pleasure bikes at various motorcycle dealerships throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties. His final years were spent managing the front desk of an insurance defense law firm in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Dave touched many people's hearts during his lifetime and he will be sorely missed. Those who will miss him most are his daughters, Brittany Rhodenbaugh and Taylor Rhodenbaugh, his sister Valerie Ladd-Audette and his brother Gary Rhodenbaugh & his wife, Pam. The family also lost Dave's brother, Robin Rhodenbaugh, to pancreatic cancer several years ago. No services are planned at this time. The family requests that donations be made to Relay For Life of Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point & Hillsboro Beach or the American Cancer Society.

8 years has gone by and not one of those days has passed without having the urge to call you, dad. There will forever be an ache that lives in my heart without you earth side. We have pictures of you in our home and Hampton points to them and says "that´s my grandpa!" every time he sees them and I love that he knows who you are. It gives me hope that you somehow sent him here from your side of heaven and I am eternally grateful - he´s hilarious, so sweet and wicked smart and gosh, you would love spending time with him. Every time I see a lingering bird outside the window or have a butterfly that hangs around, I like to think it´s somehow you telling me you´re still around watching us live and sending us little blessings. I miss you and love you so much, Dad.

It wrecks me knowing we are coming up on 5 years.. you are missed so intensely! Your grandson, Hampton, would have loved to meet you. You would have been such a fun grandpa. I miss you, dad.

God, I know you've heard my prayers and are probably pretty annoyed with me at this point, but please continue to give my daddy a front row seat to all the good stuff. He deserves it. He's always been my angel, but now he works for you. Just make sure you blow your nose when you start to sniffle, he hates sniffles. You're lucky to have him. Stay close by daddy, I still need you. I love you to the moon. Love, Britty

I did not get to meet Mickey in person as I am located in Indiana, I did have the pleasure of dealing with him at his last employment prior to his passing. He was a very pleasant and funny man who I looked forward to speaking with. I am sadden by his passing and will miss his wonderful caring voice when I call. Rest in peace, you will be missed my many.

Many great memories with my friend Mickey. Riding motorcycles, fishing, golfing, diving, traveling or just laughing on the showroom floor. He was good friend and I'll miss him.
