Douglas Campbell Obituary

Doug was born on June 23, 1937, in East Orange, N.J.

He graduated from Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., and went on to graduate with a B.A. Degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Doug was commissioned there as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, via R.O.T.C. He was a proud member of the A.T.O Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships with many of his fraternity brothers.

After serving on active duty at The Army Finance Center at Ft. Harrison, Indianapolis, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He began a very long and successful career as a stockbroker in Fort Lauderdale and, after forty years in the investment field, retired as a Senior Vice President with Morgan Stanley. Doug qualified for the prestigious Chairman's Club and was proud to have earned 23 consecutive years enjoying the privilege, along with other members of that elite group of top producers.

Doug married Diana in 1965, and soon had two children, Karlan and Todd. Later Karlan married Robert Frank and they had his beloved grandchildren, Robert and Lucy.

Todd married Stephanie Himes. Doug felt very fortunate to have all his family living close by in Boca Raton.

Doug and Diana had a wonderful 57- year marriage and traveled the world extensively. Family was the centerpiece of his life, and he always relished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Upon retirement, Doug immersed himself in volunteer work. He started as a mentor at The Haven, a home for disadvantaged boys. When that facility closed, he served for over fifteen years as a facilitator at The Faulk Center for Counseling in Boca Raton.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Diana, daughter Karlan, his son Todd, as well as his wonderful grandchildren Robert and Lucy, all of Boca Raton.

Doug is also survived by his sister, Vicki Staniar of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J. and Brewster, MA, and his nephew Chris Smith of Boca Raton.

I have experienced no greater love than that for my father. He was the most amazing man, father and best friend I´ve ever known. Losing him can never be reflected in words alone. I´m so grateful for every minute spent with him and will forever cherish the innumerable memories of him that I hold so close. I love you dad, I miss you so much and am so incredibly grateful for having you. You have a home in my heart forever. Your very humbled son, with love.

I met Doug in Feb 1963--I was a ft laud. Police Off. and stopped Doug in front of the Mai-Kai. He was driving his Porsche and had a trunk mounted luggage rack. I was just going on my honeymoon in my Porsche and asked if I could borrow the rack! That began a long and fruitful relationship. Thanks Doug for helping me to be so financially secure, couldn't have done it without you expertise!! Hope to see you in the distant future. Maybe we can have a race in our Porsches... I'm so sorry for your loss Diana, Love, Jim and Barbara Guarino, Sunrise, fl
