Gia, Vince and Enzo,
What an amazing man!!! And how lucky are we that he crossed our path. I feel lucky. My father and my mother had undeniable respect for him. My brother loved him. Although, I remember once he came home from a game and told my father he wanted to quit (baseball) because he was so angry at Ed. Ed probably made him cry. My father's response was, "I paid $12.00 for you to play and you're going to play until the end of the season." The end of the season came and Terry signed up again and again to play for Ed. Ed demanded the best from his players on and off the field and settled for nothing less. Too bad there isn't more of that today.

Then my nephew Michael played for Ed many years later. That was awesome. And true to form, Michael left playing baseful for Ed with great respect and love.

Through the years I've bragged about Ed many times. It's hard to express how devoted a person he was to young people, excuse me.... all persons. Unless you were a part of his life I guess it could be hard to imagine. I'm glad we were a part of his life.

I'll think back on all the good times we had throughout the years with a big smile and warm heart.

I remember talking to Ed at a party at Lou & Electra's and asking him if he felt like he had had enough. He said "no, I love it", with a big smile on his face.

Thanks, Ed.....I love you, and everytime I see a baseball field I will think of you and smile. Connie and Terry will miss you terribly. Tell Char and Tony hello and have a shot of good scotch with them. :-)

Gia, Vince and Enzo -
I was so sorry to hear of Ed's passing and wish I could have been at Church to extend my sympathy to you in person. Ed was such a big part of Country Fair and the French Fry booth will not be the same without him at the helm!
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this very difficult time. God must have needed a Chef and Coach in heaven and picked the cream of the crop!
My love to you all.

Dear Enzo and Family,
I'll never forget the laughs we had the first time I met Ed. From dinner at the house to "Stomp" at the theater, your father was a true "lover of life". Not only was he a coach and mentor to many young minds, but he built the solid foundation that you now stand upon. It is with deepest regret not to have been able to attend his service. Please know that you and your family are always in my thoughts.

Coach, as many called him, brought together many of us with his smile, quick wit and winning personality, and most of all, his love of baseball. We'll remember the good times in years to come. May the love of God surround Gia and family during this time of sorrow. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Coach:
You have touched so many through out your life. I remember the first time we met,I called you to have a look at my son Sal. You and Sergio Morales were on the field at Seminole getting some work in. You worked with Sal and told me he had something and that he could not play there for a while till he got to be 12. You had him put on your younger team and play there for a while, he also practiced with your older team from time to time. All the while you always kept your eye on him when you where on the field.

You brought him up when he was ready, you taught him baseball, and about life, as you did many others. Sal would not be where he is today if it not for you and your other coaches. I thank you as do many others. Many times you sat with the boys in the dugout and on third base to talk about life, and being true to yourself. To live life on your morals and never be afraid. Always believe in yourself and God.

I finally coached with you at Weston for 3 seasons. You taught me more about myself then I thought I knew. My parents did a great job raising me and teaching me what I know, but you went even further. You taught me to love myself and others around me more, trust and believe in God more than I did. We sat in the dugout many a time, laughed and just talked. You asked me a question I will never forget. You asked me if I loved my and of course I said yes. You then told me to let go, let him grow up. I had too much of a hold on him and could not see it. But I did as you asked, and I have a happy person since. Sal grew up as both my family would want him and as you would want.

We have always been in touch though e mail, phone calls, and breakfasts. I would always see you at the school when you were giving lessons. I will miss you, you were not done with your chores in life, but the good Lord has a special place for you. I wish we could have been together some more, I have so much more to learn. God took you from us early, but you are in a better place now. Tell the boys of summer how to play baseball the Grossi way, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE!!!

See you at the pearly gates, I will have a glove and ball in hand, and I will be looking forward to coaching along side of you again. You were more than a Coach to me and my family. You were a friend, a mentor, and A MAN WHO I LOVED AND CHERISHED. You will be missed.

Love you for ever
Benny

The world suffered a great loss when we lost my beloved uncle. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father, friend, coach and mentor. He was the patriarch of our family in so many ways. He always shared so much of himself with so many, bigger than life. He will be missed and remembered fondly by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

We will miss Ed dearly. His contribution to the community stretched way beyond the local area. His influence on those he touched will be carried on in his legacy. And while he will most certainly be missed by us all, he left behind some great memories that will live on in all of us. As was mentioned before, Ed Grossi was without question, a true giant in the community.
