El Schott saved my golfing life. I was an obnoxious 21 year-old who, as a member of a men´s league near Burnsville, SC, I swore and threw clubs. Knowledgeable of the rules and etiquette and firmly committed to both, El took me aside and said, no one likes to play with you. I was shaken and wanted his respect. From that day I pledged to never throw clubs and strive to be a pleasure to play with. Some 45 years later, I am able to enjoy the game and with a wide variety of playing partners. I owe my golfing life to Elwin Schott and I am reminded of him often.
