Emily Adamson Obituary

Adamson, Emily Ruth, age 7, of Cooper City, flew home to Heaven to be with Jesus on May 12, 2008. She peacefully entered God's Kingdom surrounded by her family, in the comfort of her home, with all the things she loved. She had fought Neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer since age 3. The cancer did not win, as Emily's body is now perfect in Heaven. Emily showed more courage, determination, and will to live than most adults. She faced each day with a zest for life and love, regardless of her being in the hospital, receiving chemo, or being in pain. Her smile was contagious, along with all of her cute expressions that caused all around her to fall in love with her. She will be missed more than words can say. Emily is survived by her heartbroken parents, David and Diane Adamson; her twin sister, MaryGrace; maternal grandmother, Ruth Behr; paternal grandmother, Jeanne Adamson; Godfather and Uncle, Gordon Behr and wife, Amy; Godmother, Kathy Dykstra; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Emily was a second grade student at Embassy Creek Elementary. Although she missed many days due to illness, she cherished every moment at school. She endeared many staff members at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, and also Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. She never gave up. A celebration of Emily's life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 580 Indian Trace, Weston, FL 33326, (954) 384-9096. It is open to all who knew and loved Emily. We ask all attending please wear pink, as that was Emily's favorite color. Arrangements are entrusted to Fred Hunter's Hollywood, (954) 989-1550. In lieu of flowers, we ask Emily be honored with a gift in her name to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation (www.JDCHF.org) or The Loneliest Road Campaign (www.loneliestroad.org)

I pray each and every day for your family. I know Emily is an angel in heaven with very special others. But I have been to Joe DMaggio with my nephew fighting burkitts lymphoma and I know the love involved. God will take us through each and every day and peace will be learned by all of us. Her song sings through the wind each day!

Dear Diane, David and MaryGrace, Our hearts and prayers go out to you on the loss of Emily. As your neighbors, we have loved watching both girls grow to be such sweet children and we will miss Emily terribly. We hope that you will have some small comfort in knowing that you surely did everything you could to give fun and happiness and the best care to her. We will be over to see you and of course we are just steps away if you need anything at alll. With much love, Leah and David Jaffe
