Gabriella Solomon Obituary

Solomon Solomon, Gabriella Mary died peacefully at home on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 56 years William L. Solomon Jr., her 6 children, William L. Solomon III of Chicago, IL, Mark E. Solomon of Miramar, FL, Rebecca S. McAlpine of Tallahassee, FL, Elizabeth A. Brunman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Bennett G. Solomon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Bradley J. Solomon of Plantation, FL and her 7 grandchildren, William Solomon IV, Christina Mordoff, Angela Solomon, Andrew Solomon, Kenneth McAlpine Jr., Kevin McAlpine and Keri McAlpine. She was a wonderful, caring and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on in all the lives she touched in family, friends, church and community. Gabriella was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 24, 1932, daughter of late August and Gabriella Pleva. She married William L. Solomon on Dec. 26, 1953. They set down their roots in S. Florida and made a loving and happy home for their children. Gabriella was always involved in the children?s schools and organizations and gave many volunteer hours to church and the community. Services for Gabriella will take place on Sat, Nov. 27 at 11am at St. Gregory Catholic Church. A viewing will take place at Scarano Memorial Chapel, 6970 Stirling Rd, Davie, FL on Fri. Nov 26 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The family will receive relatives and friends Sat. afternoon from 2-4pm at the Solomon home.

Gay was like a wise mother to me. She was always positive, always in good humor, and brought a unique point of view to her helpful suggestions and comments. She knew how to deepen a discussion and help a person discover more about himself and The Lord. She was ever generous with using her musical talents to give back to God. She will be sorely missed, but I know that many have already welcomed her home on the other side. Love Elaine
