My Mom and Dad Knew Gary well. My Dad, Bruce Smithler, would take Gary flying as he had wanted his pilots license which unfortunately he never got. After my Dad died, Gary was so much help to my mother, Grandparents and us 4 kids! My Dad was 24 yrs old and my Mom was 23 yrs old when Dad was killed flying a crop duster in Austin TX in 1959. I was just 4 1/2 months old and my siblings were 2, 4, and 6 yrs old. We all have very fond memories of Gary, and wanted you to know how much he was appreciated even at the age of 18! He was kind, funny and all around good guy!
We know that he is flying with the angels
and our thoughts and prayers are with you
during this time of sorrow.

Our thoughts and prayers go to you Kim, Heather and Kelly. Your father was a great man with a wonderful personality and outlook on life. He will be missed. My favorite memory of "Gare Bear" was seeing him light up when he talked about his planes, he loved his planes. We look forward to hearing from you in the future. Lots of Love. -Your Nursing Staff of R4
