My parents Michael and Anna Stern grew up in Poland with Irving Graifman and his brother Alex, so I can not remember a moment in time when Irving was not part of my world. Like many of the Jewish children growing up in Skokie our families were destroyed by the Holocaust but I was very fortunate my parents had the best group of landsman in the world. They lived in Skokie together and when they moved to Florida they moved to Tamarac within blocks of each other.

My family always enjoyed visiting my parents in Tamarac, because they felt like they had a real extended family. Within the first 24 hours of our arrival in Florida we were visiting Irving and Ruth’s house. My children Jeremy and Jessica never minded calling on a few special families; because they knew these people cared about them and gave them special treats.

When my father passed away I knew my mother was going to be fine, because she had such fantastic group of friends who cared so much for each other. But the years fly by and mom moved to Tampa, so my family has not seen Irving and Ruth or the other landsman in too long. But these very special people will always be dear to me and my family. My family wishes to send their condolences to Ruth, Helen and Malvin.

With love
